The main aim of Unit 2 is to “unblack the box” of your smartphone and discover what parts and treasures are hidden inside. You will also learn what raw materials go into a phone and where you can find them. The unit also tries to raise awareness of important environmental issues related to the mining of raw materials in general.

Most parts of this course are designed for teaching the last year of primary level, some parts are rather suitable for teaching at secondary level. Furthermore, this unit provides a lot of background information for teachers.
