Abstract of UNIT 3 | LTP 2.2
At the centre of this unit is a world map, which can be used in a variety of ways depending on the issues raised and questions asked in relation to digitalisation and sustainability. In two workshops, participants are asked to use the information and materials provided to illustrate various issues on the world map. In Workshop 1, participants learn that energy is used differently around the world and that different countries leave different carbon footprints. Workshop 2 takes a closer look at server farms and submarine communication cables around the world.
Learning Objectives of UNIT 3
By the end of Unit 3, the participants will be able to
define what the carbon footprint is and see how large it is in different countries around the world.
recognize the actions they can take to have a positive impact on the climate (carbon handprint).
locate submarine communication cables on a map.
explain how streaming services work and where server farms are located around the world.
Abstract of UNIT 4| LTP 2.2
This unit is about the future, with or without digital technologies. The students first receive information from different perspectives on what a future with digital technologies could look like. The students are then asked to think about questions about different future scenarios. They should also make references to the previous units. The aim is to write a joint resolution for a common future worth living at the end of the unit. The methodological focus in this unit is on the "future workshop" method.
Learning Objectives of UNIT 4
By the end of Unit 4, the participants will be able to
define current concepts on developments in the IT sector and enter into a discussion about them.
work with others on future concepts and outline developments.
define and argue measures for a more sustainable development in the IT sector.
