Economic sustainability

Economic sustainability aims to maintain the capital intact. If social sustainability focuses on improving social equality, economic sustainability aims to improve the standard of living. Maintaining high and stable levels of economic growth is one of the key objectives of sustainable development. Abandoning economic growth is not an option. But sustainable development is more than just economic growth. The quality of growth matters as well as the quantity.

The Holiday Resort Project refers first of all to economic sustainability. The income for a lot of locals could grow with such a project. The company which runs the resort should prefer local employees and take actions to educate the staff and offer good and interesting jobs. If the resort is trying to buy food and other ressources mainly from local partners (farmers, fishermen,...) there will be even more revenue for the citizens of the island.

The hotel resort could help to improve the economy of the island. By bringing more people to the island, therefore the local stores would be receiving more customers than ever before. At the same time though the resort should focus on employing locals, as it offers everyone more job opportunity and new experiences that could further their knowledge in the job market

The construction of the resort would probably be a good source of economic growth for the island, but for that, I believe locals must be hired in all stages, from construction to personnel or suppliers as much as possible. Only then we could say that the resort really creates a positive impact in the economic growth of the island.
