1. Summary
The session begins with a short welcome and general introduction to the concepts and learning objectives of UNITS 3 and 4. There will also be a short summary of the objectives of UNITS 1 and 2 from last year, as all topics are related and interdependent. Participants will then take part in two hands-on workshops.
Workshop 1: Find the Footprint
In this workshop, participants will learn what the carbon footprint is and why it can have a negative impact on our climate. They then research the carbon footprints of different countries around the world. Finally, participants draw their own footprint and carbon handprint, which recognizes the actions they can take to have a positive impact on the climate.
Workshop 2: Mapping Digital Technology
In this workshop, participants will learn how the internet travels around the world and how streaming services work. By looking at a map of undersea communication cables, they learn that some places in the world are better connected than others. Finally, participants use some provided materials to illustrate server farms and cables on a world map.
